Right now im going to school at Riverside Community College and im working on my prerequisites so i can get into the Dental Hygiene program but what do i do afterwards?

I have had braces for a year and a half, and I'm getting them off in a month. I got them tightened for the last time almost three weeks ago, and suddenly this morning while I was brushing my teeth, when I spit I saw there was a substantial amount of blood. I looked in the mirror later and saw that on the upper right side of my mouth, my gums were swollen and moved about halfway down my teeth. It doesn't really hurt all that much, only when I push it with my tongue. I take care of my teeth really well so I don't think it can be something like gingivitis, and if its “normal”, why didn't it get swollen everywhere and when I actually got the tightened? I'm really confused.

the swelling go back down? karebear, thanks for being the firs to answer in almost an hour. I was waiting impatiently because I was really worried. I guess I still am, but it really doesn't hurt.

for your answer, I hope you're right! I brush really well twice a day, so I don't think it has to do with plaque or anything like that.

IN my state they have tried at least 4 times since I've been licensed to allow assistants to scale teeth.

new bill says anyone in a Dental office can scale teeth-ANYONE w/o any training at all.

is there such a fight between Hyg.

DDS's? Can't we work together? I wish I'd gone into another profession because of this. I meant to type conscientious-lol
