Is it normal to have a crown removed when you have your wisdom teeth extracted?

I just got all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out and when i took the gauze out of my mouth i notice my crown is missing on my molar that I had a root canal.

tooth was next to a wisdom tooth that was starting to cut through the gum. If this is normal, shouldn’t someone have told me at the dentist office that they had to remove it? I didn’t find out until I got home and took the gauze out.

I guess I’m going to have to pay to have a new crown put on? I’m going to call the dentist office on Monday to see if this is normal. I thought I would see if this has happened to anyone else.

If the crown came off during the surgical procedure the doctor should have told you. It can be recemented after the bleeding stops and you heal up some but should have been recemented with a temporary cement while you were there. In any case, the crown was loosened during the procedure and you should not have to pay for a new one.

need to call your dentist right now and not wait until Mon. to find out where your crown is.
