Causes Of A White Coated Tongue
If you’re suffering with a white coated tongue, you’re not the only one. This is a moderately prevalent issue that effects millions of people around the world. However, a white coated tongue may be present for one of several possible reasons.
One reason for a white coated tongue is something called Candida. This is a fungus on your tongue that ordinarily results from using several kinds of prescription drugs or medications with steroids in them. If you’ve recently taken anything of the type, there’s a good possibility that your tongue is white for this reason. See it as a short-lived infection of the tongue. This infection is medically known as oral thrush.
One more viable explanation for a white coated tongue is nothing more than dead skin. The tongue is covered with skin, similar to just about any other feature on your body, and every so often the dead skin on your tongue builds up to the point where it’s noticeably white. One regular cause of this is lack of fluids, so drink several additional servings of water habitually if you believe there’s an opportunity that this could be the cause of your white coated tongue.
The most reliable way to fix a white tongue is via the use of a tongue scraper. By utilizing a tongue scraper every few days, you’ll have the ability to softly remove what’s most likely dead skin cells on your tongue, restoring your tongue back to its natural color.
If you see extra red on your tongue subsequent to removing the white with a tongue scraper, there’s a good possibility that your white coated tongue relates to the fungus mentioned earlier in this article. If this is the case, you ought to seek the help of a physician to deal with the condition for you.
Naturally, having more water every day could rid you of the problem entirely. The bottom line is that while it can seem a little weird, it’s by and large not much to worry over. Buy yourself a low-priced tongue scraper and you will have a quick, inexpensive form of therapy for your white tongue.

Use A Tongue Scraper To Fight Bad Breath
In recent years, the use of the tongue scraper has increased in popularity, and with good reason. They’re very effective. Many people mistake the root of bad breath and assume it’s caused by eating the wrong foods, or that it lives in the teeth and gums. While this is true, the main source of bad breath comes from the back part of the tongue.
The root of all bad breath comes from your tongue. The back of your tongue to be exact. Living deep within little grooves present inside your tongue are bacteria. These bacteria don’t get much oxygen, and as a result, they end up smelling really bad. This is the direct source of most cases of bad breath.
While there’s no outright cure for this kind of thing (though there are treatments), the good news is that regular use of a tongue scraper can do a great job at getting rid of a good percentage of these bacteria.
Tongue scraping is the easiest and cheapest means of removing these bacteria. Many people prefer to use their toothbrush to scrape the surface of their tongues when they brush their teeth. This isn’t the best idea, and I’ll explain why:
1) Try jamming a toothbrush all the way into the back of your mouth. Not only is it uncomfortable, but it’s dangerous. It could easily lead to gagging, or even choking.
2. Toothbrush bristles were meant for scraping your teeth, not your tongue. The tissue on your tongue is far more sensitive than the surface of your teeth, and using a toothbrush can seriously irritate it.
3. The width of a toothbrush isn’t enough to cover the width of your tongue. You need something wider.
A tongue scraper, on the other hand, is a much better option for various reasons. First of all, the thin shape of the scraper will allow you to reach the back of your tongue (the most important part) without feeling uncomfortable and making you gag. Also, a tongue scraper is much smoother than the rough bristles of a toothbrush, and much gentler on the tongue. Lastly, they’re really cheap and they last for a long time. I’ve had the same one for over two years now.
The use of a tongue scraper is absolutely recommended for anyone looking to take care of their breath. Whether you’re doing this and only this, or combining it with mouthwashes or other breath care systems, any dental professional would agree that it’s always something you should do.

How To Get Rid Of Tonsil Stones Successfully
Tonsil stones defined – Tonsil stones are defined as deposits varying in size, usually small, located in the tonsil area. The deposits are lodged specifically in tonsil tunnels, crevices and crypts. Now that we have determined what tonsil stones are we can now investigate how to get rid of tonsil stones.
Appearance – The stones differ in size from pea-sized to smaller. In very rare instances the stones can reach a very big and impossible-to-remove-yourself size. The lumps are uneven, range from white to yellow color and smell just plain terrible. The initial odor is not as bad as the gas released when the stones are crushed. The odors’ cause is directly linked to the sulphur and methyl content, resembling the gases that lead to general bad breath.
Causes – The stones are caused by a combination of mucous, bacteria and debris build-up which is derived from micro-orgasms, over-active saliva glands, dead white blood cells and food residue.
Is there any method of prevention? – Unfortunately, there are no medically identified methods of preventing tonsil stones. Prevention is limited to proper oral hygiene to prevent bacteria, mucous and debris build-up through regular flossing, brushing and gargling.
Symptoms – There are no real visible symptoms with the condition as a result of the very small size of the stones usually hidden in crypts and crevasses of the tonsils. The only time that the condition becomes truly visible is when the stone size significantly increases. CT’s and X-rays are often employed to spot these little pests that results in symptoms such as a foul taste in your mouth, halitosis, painful throat, white debris, swallowing difficulty, tonsil swelling and back throat irritation.
Self-medication – Self-medication in the form of natural treatments or remedies are highly recommended for treating the often embarrassing condition. Gently poke the stone with a clean finger, toothbrush, toothpick or an ear bud to dislodge the deposit. Please do not use force or aggression during the poking process as tonsil may be damaged in turn increasing infection, pain and bleeding. Medicine droppers are wonderful for stone sucking instead of poking. These methods will only succeed if you don’t have sensitive gag reflexes.
The stones can also be removed with mechanical removal methods such as pressurized dental irrigation also known as water piking or by merely gargling regularly with a strong saltwater solution. Water is used in both cases to dislodge and remove the deposits. Your health care professional or dentist may also prescribe antibiotics to clear the infection inside the tonsils instead of targeting the root of the problem.
Surgery – Surgery is a very extreme and rather intrusive method of removing the stones indirectly by doing a tonsillectomy on the patient. In other words, totally removing the tonsils. The surgery has a couple of disadvantages such as being very risky for older patients, not to mention the pain associated with the procedure. Please remember that a tonsillectomy will not cure bad breath. The bacteria itself that causes the halitosis will have to be treated as the stones only contribute to the problem.
Consult your physician – Although not life threatening, the stones can lead to a sore throat, blisters, discomfort, interfere with normal swallowing and is often blamed as a major cause of halitosis. It is always important to consult with your physician should the condition worsen, not clear up, cause any discomfort or before initiation of any treatment.

Eliminating halitosis can be as simple as changing your diet or following a good daily oral hygiene routine.
Generally, it’s easier to figure out how to get rid of a condition like halitosis if you recognize what causes it in the first place. The most common reason for halitosis is the bacteria in your mouth. If food gets stuck between your teeth after you’re finished with a meal, the oral bacteria can feed on this leftover food which can cause the release of sulfur that is responsible for the horrible smell in your mouth.
Food that is high in protein is dense with sulfur. This is often why many folks who are on a high protein diet are unfortunately burdened with awful breath.
Instead of eating high protein foods, you should eat fresh fruits and vegetables. This is often better for your breath because this variation in your diet can help increase your saliva flow. This saliva plays a vital role because it can flush out a lot of the halitosis-causing food and bacteria and leave your breath smelling much nicer.
It may be difficult to find a cure for your halitosis if it absolutely was caused by a medical problem like a gastric disorder. But, if it wasn’t caused by a medical condition, then you consider yourself fortunate because many folks under the identical circumstances have found an effective solution for their dilemma. But you should be careful to not purchase a mouthwash that contains alcohol because it can dry your mouth out which will result in the production of even more sulfur-producing bacteria.
While you’re brushing, you should make sure that you completely clean your teeth as well as the other places in your mouth such as your tongue and cheeks simply because the halitosis-causing bacteria and leftover food can be found everywhere in your mouth. If you are doing this often, you will greatly scale back the number of bacteria and food remnants in your mouth which can be a huge step in getting the fresh breath you desperately want.
Everybody already knows that smoking can hurt your health. Did you also know that smoking can hurt your breath as well? It’s detrimental because it will result in a dry mouth. If your mouth is dry, you will not be able to supply as much saliva which is important in washing away the remaining food and bacteria which is the reason for your halitosis. It is certainly much cheaper than buying a commercial bad breath treatment and it may truly remove the stink coming out of your mouth.
Smoking will not only wreck your breath it will also cause your garments and hair to smell pretty bad as well. You’ll do yourself and your family and friends a big favor by giving up smoking.

Ways to Cure Bad Breath If Brushing and Flossing Aren’t Enough
A little known fact about bad breath (at least among those who do not personally suffer from the problem) is that brushing and flossing actually isn’t enough to put an end to it. Most people do not know this, but for people who suffer from chronic bad breath, it is all too true. I am a chronic bad breath sufferer myself, and I know from experience that brushing and flossing is not the key to getting rid of bad breath.
You probably wouldn’t even be here paying attention to my words right now if this subject didn’t hit home. Don’t worry, because I understand what you’re going through completely and I’m here to help.
It can be nearly impossible to maintain a healthy social life when your breath is a persistent concern of yours. Even though most people are a bit too polite to tell you how bad your breath really is (with the exception of children… they’re a bit more honest), seeing people back away from you or turn their head when you’re speaking with them can be devastating to your self esteem.
If you’ve ever asked a dentist or sought out “professional” help with your halitosis, you’ve probably already realized that most people just don’t really have any useful advice to give in this area. On top of the lack of help being an issue, the misconceptions that the public have cause a lot of embarrassment for those who suffer from bad breath. If you have bad breath, people automatically assume that it is because you do not properly take care of yourself. Even your dentists are likely to think this!
Trust me, the reason your friends and family never seem to have to worry about their breath as much as you do has nothing to do with them taking better care of their mouth. The true cause of bad breath is not plaque on your teeth, but a sulfur producing bacteria that finds the climate in your mouth very hospitable.
Sulfur stinks. I don’t mean to be crude, but there’s no better way to put it. Unfortunately, you were simply born with a certain geographic layout and temperature in your mouth which allows this sulfur creating bacteria to thrive.
In order to rid yourself of bad breath forever, you must think outside of the box. We’ve already established that proper oral care alone is not enough to stop these bacteria from flourishing. These bacteria absolutely despise a pH balanced environment. A key component to fighting bad breath will be oxygen.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could just pop out of bed, lazily brush our teeth, and maybe chew some gum every now and then and have fresh breath? Unfortunately, that’s not the way it works, and it’s better to adapt than to suffer.
